What we did today:
- we went over how to write a persuasive friendly letter in preparation for our We Day Letters - today we completed our text to self, text to text, or text to world connection in proper paragraphs using introductory and concluding sentences - In PE, we played "Don't throw your junk in my backyard" then went over the mechanics of throwing overhand. At the end of the class, everyone was challenged to do something and only 2 students in both classes were able to achieve it. What was that challenge? - we sketched the parliament buildings today. Why do you think the Parliament buildings are in the movie "Revolution"? - in Math, for grade 6's we reviewed the strategy of using an organized list to solve word problems and worked through them. The grade 5's textbook practice and we reviewed our math word problems that used a table to solve them. Notices: - Picture proofs sent home. Please return order forms by October 19th if you would like to order pictures through the school - Halloween Family Dance Forms (neon yellow) went home today - grade 6 only: Halloween Family Dance Volunteer forms went home today. Please put down all of the activities you are able to help with and we will fit you in as best we can. Important Dates: Wednesday, October 26 - We Day Thursday, October 27 - Family Halloween Dance Homework: - practice your subtraction facts, they are coming next week! Patrols: - we had extra training today for all patrollers during school time to polish up our patrolling skills. - for students who are not on the First Crew of Patrollers until the end of December, review your patroller handbook so that you can retake the test. Please review the patroller letter to parents I posted earlier. - Check the schedule regularly - Stampeders Game: October 15th, discounted tickets with AMA patroller card
